6 November 2026
Historic Places Aotearoa AGM 2026
Date: Saturday 28 November 2026
Time: 10:00 am
Venue: Wellington Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation 139 Vivian Street Wellington

Registration: No formal registration is required as the meeting is being held in conjunction with the ACHS Conference for which separate registration is required. ( See below). However, we would be grateful to receive an indication from those planning to attend.
Programme: An agenda will be circulated prior to the meeting and members are invited to submit items for the agenda. The meeting will conclude with a workshop led by Samantha Tobias a PhD candidate from Ireland
Workshop: This one-hour participatory workshop introduces participants to the relationships between climate change, heritage and biocultural practices through the use of the “Biocultural Climate Pressure Rapid Check Tool,” for short, the Rapid Check. Biocultural practices are living practices shaped through long relationships between people and their environment, including farming, land and water management, handcraft or everyday interactions with local landscapes that foster environmental observation. It is possible to adapt the workshop to local communities, heritage practitioners or researchers. I hope many of you will find this interesting and be willing to participate. It is entirely anonymous. The Rapid Check is based on conditional questions and is available through a browser-based application. The idea behind the Rapid Check and the workshop is that local bservations and lived experiences constitute valuable forms of knowledge.
After the Meeting: After a lunch break HP Wellington are offering a visit to “Mr Ward’s House” nearby at 2pm. Please RSVP by 15th November to
ACHS Conference: https://www.achs2026.nz/
The conference will be held at the Pipitea Campus of Victoria University of Wellington. The full programme is
due to be posted on the website shortly and you can register via the website at the link above.
